From July 2003 to July 2004, advances in pediatric cardiology and congenital heart disease are reviewed, focusing on diagnostic and therapeutic aspects.

Among the diagnostic advances we analize the progress in genetic and molecular biology and the advances in imaging methods of diagnosis: 3D echocardiography, magnetic resonance and computed tomography.

Concerning new therapies we emphasize novelties in ablation of arrhythmias in infants and children and current indications of implantable defibrillators in pediatric patients. We review novelties in devices and technics of interventional cardiology and the advances in cardiac surgery.

We also make an update about the recent advances in fetal cardiology.

Finally we describe recent aspects in the organization and activities of pediatric cardiology in Spain.
