AWARDS OF THE SOCIEDAD ESPAÑOLA DE CARDIOLOGÍA FOR BEST ARTICLES PUBLISHED IN THE Revista Española de Cardiología
Endowment: 9000 e.
Conditions:
1. The purpose of this Award is to provide incentives for the publication of quality original articles in the Revista Española de Cardiología.
2. A first prize of 6000 euros and a second prize of 3000 euros will be awarded.
3. Both awards will be granted yearly. Awards cannot be declared vacant.
4. All original papers published in Revista Española de Cardiología in 2001 are eligible for the awards. Short reports, editorials, special articles, or review articles are not eligible for the awards.
5. Authors who publish original papers in the volume, but do not wish to be considered for these awards, should inform editors beforehand.
6. The Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors of Revista Española de Cardiología will preselect what they consider to be the 6 best papers published in 2001 in the journal, after consulting the presidents of the scientific sections of the Sociedad Española de Cardiología (SEC).
7. The jury responsible for the final selection of the two papers that receive awards will be presided by the Vice President of the SEC and will include the Editor- in-Chief and members of the Awards and Grants jury of the SEC. All decisions are final and not subject to appeal.
8. The awards ceremony will be held during the Congress of Cardiovascular Diseases (XXXVIII National Congress of the SEC), which will take place in Madrid, 16-19 October 2002.
AWARDS OF THE SOCIEDAD ESPAÑOLA DE CARDIOLOGÍA FOR ARTICLES PUBLISHED IN THE Revista Española de Cardiología WITH THE GREATEST INTERNATIONAL IMPACT
Endowment: 18 000 e.
Conditions:
1. The purpose of these awards is to provide an incentive to publish original papers in the Revista Española de Cardiología with long or mid-term impact or influence on the international scientific community.
2. A first prize of 6000 euros and a second prize of 3000 euros will be awarded to the article with the greatest long-term impact. Another first prize of 6000 euros and second prize of 3000 euros will be awarded to the article with the greatest mid-term impact.
3. Both awards will be granted yearly. Awards cannot be declared vacant.
4. All original papers published in Revista Española de Cardiología are eligible for the awards. Short reports, editorials, special articles, or review articles are not eligible for awards.
5. The impact of articles will be measured by the number of times an article published in the Revista Española de Cardiología is cited in the bibliography of journals included in the database of Science Citation Index Expanded.
6. For the award for the article with the greatest long-term international impact, all citations in the bibliography of 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001 of articles published in the 1996 journal will be counted. For the award for the article with the greatest mid-term international impact, all citations in the bibliography of 2000 and 2001 of articles published in the 1999 journal will be counted.
7. The bibliographic citations of each article will be counted by an organization independent from the journal and SEC, which will issue an annual report.
8. The awards ceremony will be held during the Congress of Cardiovascular Diseases (XXXVIII National Congress of the SEC), which will take place in Madrid, 16-19 October 2002.
AWARD OF THE SECTION OF PEDIATRIC CARDIOLOGY AND CARDIAC MALFORMATIONS OF THE SOCIEDAD ESPAÑOLA DE CARDIOLOGÍA
Endowment: 1803.04 e
Conditions:
1. The award is endowed with a prize of 1803.04 euros.
2. All original papers on topics of pediatric cardiology and congenital heart disease published in the Revista Española de Cardiología (vol. 54 of 2001, nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12) are eligible.
3. The jury responsible for evaluation will be formed by the President and Secretary of the Section of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Malformations of the SEC, and the Editor-in-Chief of the Revista Española de Cardiología.
4. The awards ceremony will be held during the Congress of Cardiovascular Diseases (XXXVIII National Congress of the SEC), which will take place in Madrid, 16 to 19 October 2002.
XIII IZASA AWARD
Endowment: 2404.04 e
Conditions:
1. The Section of Hemodynamics and Interventional Cardiology of the SEC announces the IZASA Awards for articles published on the topic of interventional cardiology in the Revista Española de Cardiología.
2. Members of the Section of Hemodynamics and Interventional Cardiology who are first authors of articles published in the Revista Española de Cardiología concerning work carried out in Spain are eligible for this award.
3. Articles published in the interim period between SEC congresses will be evaluated.
4. Prizes are endowed as follows:
a) First prize: 1502.53 euros.
b) Second prize: 901.52 euros.
5. The jury will be composed by two members of the Board of Directors of the section, two members of the section chosen by a drawing, the Editor-in-Chief of the journal, and a member of IZASA, who will have a voice but not a vote.
6. The awards ceremony will be held during the Congress of Cardiovascular Diseases (XXXVIII National Congress of the SEC), which will take place in Madrid, 16-19 October 2002.
7. Awards may be declared vacant if, in the judgment of the jury, adequate levels of quality have not been reached. All decisions by the jury are final and not subject to appeal.
III AMERSHAM HEALTH AWARD FOR THE BEST PUBLICATION ON NUCLEAR CARDIOLOGY IN THE Revista Española de Cardiología
The Nuclear Cardiology Working Group of the Sociedad Española de Cardiología (SEC) aims to promote research in nuclear cardiology and motivate authors to publish their results in the Revista Española de Cardiología.

1. All original papers on the topic of nuclear cardiology published in the Revista Española de Cardiología in 2001 (vol. 54/2001, nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12) are eligible for this award.
